MFW 1st Grade- Week #16

Well this was actually our last week of school before Christmas break, I’m finally getting around to posting it  :)

Bible: Big Ladybug learned the story of Joseph, how his brothers sold him into slavery and he eventually became the governor of Egypt.   Joseph overcame so much in his lifetime; slavery, being away from his father, and prison, all of which was God’s plan so he could save many lives.  Big Ladybug learned that sometimes our life my not go as we plan, but it is God’s plan, and has special things in store for us.

For her Bible activity, she made her family tree.  We had fun with this!  I got the template idea from NestleFamily.com and we just used markers and some construction paper.  She was so happy with the way it turned out.

Science:  We started our new book Science with Water.  This week we were “Experimenting with Water.”  We discussed how water takes the shape of the container it is in, and how water flows.

Did you know??

  • Water makes up 80% of an earthworm, 70% of a chicken, and 70% of an elephant
  • Water also makes up 90% of a tomato, 80% of pineapples and corn, and 70% of a tree.

I also forgot to mention that I was asked to participate in a blog carnival in December!  (I blame it on the hustle and bustle of the holiday season!)  So if you are interested in checking out The Hands On Homeschool Blog Carnival…..jump on over to see Melissa at Bugs, Knights, and Turkeys in the Yard!
