Tree of Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for.

006

To demonstrate how blessed we are, the kids made a tree of thanks.

It was cute to see the differences between a 7-year-old and 3-year-olds idea of what they are thankful for.

Christmas Break Is Officially Over

Well Christmas is over, the New Year is here…….time to return to school.  It’s not that I don’t want to, I guess I could just use another week off.  I had a whole list of organizational,  cleaning projects that I wanted to get done, but due to our whole family being sick this last week…….it didn’t get done.

But, we did have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Here are some photos to share what we did do on our lovely break from school.

We had a Christmas party with our co-op and made some gorgeous Graham cracker houses.

We made a Jesse Tree.  (I just didn’t seem to get a picture with it completed :)

Family came to visit us. I have to say I am very disappointed at my lack of pictures this Christmas!  We had a total of 5 family Christmas celebrations, plus my Dad coming over Christmas morning, and this is all I took!  Sorry Grandparents!

The kids played some more.

The babies had croup and the rest of us had a nasty cold.

Well despite the sickness and the chores that didn’t get completed, we had a wonderful Christmas.  We are so blessed to have each other and to be together as a family.  I am looking forward to this new year and all the great times we are going to have together!

MFW 1st Grade- Week #13

We survived our first week with Daddy back to work!  It took a little while to get used to it just being the 4 of us again, but we are doing well! Daddy is adjusting to his routine too.

Bible:  He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded.  ~Proverbs 13:13

Big Ladybug read the story of Cain and Abel and Noah.  She added them to her timeline and Bible Notebook.

We discussed the significance of a rainbow and God’s promise to us to never flood the Earth again.

She made a rainbow out of construction paper.

She also made some boats out of aluminum foil and floated them in the kitchen sink.  She had a great time playing with them, or I should say, sinking Little People in them :)

Science:  We looked at the reflection of light and how rainbows are formed.

She watched Bill Nye the Science Guy: Light and Color DVD.

For some fun this week Big Ladybug and Little Ladybug made some Thanksgiving turkeys.  I was planning on doing more Thanksgiving crafts, but unfortunately due to sickness is our household, we did not get around to it.

Did you know??

Every person sees their own "personal" rainbow. When you look at one, you are seeing the light bounced off of certain raindrops, but when the person standing next to you looks at the same rainbow, they may see the light reflecting off other raindrops from a completely different angle. In addition, everyone sees colors differently according to light and how their eyes interpret it.

The BOO Crew!

We have been so busy lately that I have not had time to post about all the fun stuff we have been doing!  So here are some pictures to share our October festivities!

We got together with my friend Candace to make some Halloween crafts.  (She is going to hate that I posted this picture of her! :)  The kids made a toilet paper roll Frankenstein, a Foot Print Witch, and some Ghoulish Ghosts!  We had a great time!

Little Ladybug was not really into the other crafts, but she enjoyed making her pumpkin!  However she was upset when I hung it up, she did not like parting with it!

The girls had a great time making Peanut Butter Spiders for the Homeschool Harvest Party!

All the kids had a great time at the Harvest Party!  One of the dads is a kid DJ, so he got the party going with some great music and dancing!
