Sketch Tuesday Returns!!

 

                     

Barb at Harmony Art Mom has begun Sketch Tuesday for this school year!  Big Ladybug really enjoyed participating in this last year.

What is Sketch Tuesday?

• Free homeschool art inspiration
• Every Tuesday Barb gives a topic for your family to explore and draw, paint, chalk, or use whatever medium you like!  There is no age limit or requirement so everyone can join…..even parents :0)
• You also only participate when you can.  (I like how it keeps us sketching something weekly.)
• Then you can email your sketches to her by the following Monday, and she will add it to the slideshow on her blog.  (I don’t always get around to submitting our sketches, but we always try to at least sketch it every week.)

Sketch Tuesday: Something Spicy

 

Assignment:  Sketch a spice or spice bottle.

Big Ladybug has not been introduced to drawing still-life art yet, so this was a great assignment for her.

A VERY LONG time ago I used to have time to sketch, paint, create, and I loved it.  So I decided to put everything else aside and join her this time.  I pulled out the graphite pencils and kneaded eraser I picked up for her several months ago, and we had a little art lesson.  I am a little rusty, but I was able to show her how to create depth and shade.  She practiced shading, but enjoyed kneading the eraser more than anything.  She was also surprised that her mom could draw a little.

MFW 1st Grade: Week #29

We completed 4 more parables from the New Testament.  We are really enjoying these stories, and discussing what Jesus is teaching us through these.

A Farmer and His Seeds

 

Bible Craft:  Big Ladybug made some Bible time sandals.  We traced her foot on some cardboard, cut it out, and hot glued some felt on top. Then she had to measure out 42” of ribbon for each sandal and we weaved it through slits we made in the cardboard and felt.  She thought these were pretty comfy :)

Bible craft:  We used a paper plate to make a basket.  She decorated 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.

I got this weeks craft ideas from some books I got at the library.

 

Science:  We completed our spring tree study. Check out our latest Outdoor Hour Challenge.

Art:  We completed Sketch Tuesday, but never got around to posting it so I am adding it to our weekly wrap-up. 

Assignment:  Something poisonous. 

The girls really like checking out the links Barb put on her site about all the interesting poisonous creatures God blessed us with :)

Grandma came over and taught Big Ladybug how to use soft pastels.  She had a great time and loved working with them.

Sketch Tuesday: “Tiger Sleeping in Tulips”

As you all know, my Big Ladybug LOVES to draw, paint, color, mold clay, paper mache’, and anything else artsy that she can get her little hands on.  So I was so excited to see that I can link up some of  her drawings.  

Barb-Harmony Art Mom hosts Sketch Tuesday!  Every week she has a different topic for the students to sketch.  Then on Tuesday’s she displays the entries in a slide show on her blog.

 

This weeks topic was something that begins with the letter T.  Big Ladybug really enjoyed using water color pencils for the first time.
